The world's most trusted
proof of English.
A Cambridge English certificate isn't another test result — it's a credential institutions already recognise. That's what you're really training for.
Recognised worldwide
Accepted by 25,000+ universities, employers and governments across 130+ countries — for admissions, jobs, scholarships and visas.
Valid for life
Unlike IELTS or TOEFL, a Cambridge B1, B2 or C1 certificate never expires. Pass once, hold it forever — no renewals, no re-sits.
A century of assessment
Cambridge English has set the standard in language assessment for over 100 years, built on the official CEFR framework examiners work from.
Six levels exist.
We built three.
Cambridge English certifies the full CEFR ladder, from A1 to C2. We focus, on purpose, on the three levels that open the most doors — and where serious self-practice changes the result.
B1 Preliminary
formerly PET
Confident everyday English — travel, work and social life. Your entry point to internationally recognised certification.
↗ Grade A certifies B2.
B2 First
formerly FCE
The most widely held Cambridge certificate, asked for by hundreds of universities and employers worldwide.
↗ Grade A certifies C1.
C1 Advanced
formerly CAE
High-level, near-fluent English — the standard for top universities and demanding professional roles.
↗ Grade A certifies C2.
What's a
CES score?
CES is the Cambridge English Scale — one continuous scale, from roughly 80 to 230, used across every Cambridge English exam. Instead of a vague pass/fail, your exam returns a single precise number.
One number
Each paper is marked on the same scale, so your overall score is directly comparable and meaningful.
Maps to a grade
Your score falls into Grade C, B or A — and each grade corresponds to a CEFR level you can prove.
Can certify higher
Score high enough and you certify the level above the exam you sat — a Grade A at B2 First proves C1.

Three papers,
built to the real format.
Same task types, same structure, same time pressure as the official exam — across B1, B2 and C1.

And the Speaking paper?
Speaking is a live, face-to-face conversation with a human examiner — the one paper that's genuinely best rehearsed with a real person. So we don't fake it. Upslang focuses where instant, criterion-based feedback moves your score the most on your own: Reading & Use of English, Writing and Listening.
Writing feedback
like a real examiner.
Four official criteria · Honest scores · Never a vague "needs improvement"
Content
Did you cover every point the task required? Miss one and your score is capped — regardless of how good your English is.
Communicative Achievement
Right register, right format. A report written like a casual message fails here, even with flawless grammar.
Organisation
Logical flow, smooth transitions, clear structure. Separate paragraphs alone won't earn a high mark.
Language
Range and accuracy. Error-free but basic English is still capped — variety of vocabulary and structures is essential.

might ask.
Is Upslang affiliated with Cambridge?+
No. Upslang is an independent exam-preparation platform and is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment. We reference the Cambridge English exams only to describe what you are training for.
Which Cambridge exams can I prepare for?+
Upslang covers three levels: B1 Preliminary (formerly PET), B2 First (formerly FCE) and C1 Advanced (formerly CAE) — the three certifications most asked for by universities, employers and visa offices.
Why only B1, B2 and C1?+
Cambridge English certifies six CEFR levels, from A1 to C2. We deliberately focus on B1, B2 and C1 because they are the levels that open the most doors — university entry, work, and mobility — and where rigorous self-practice makes the biggest difference.
Does Upslang cover the Speaking paper?+
Not yet. Speaking is a live, face-to-face conversation assessed by a human examiner — the one paper that is genuinely best rehearsed with a real person. We focus on the three papers where instant, criterion-based feedback moves your score on your own: Reading & Use of English, Writing and Listening.
What is R.U.E. and which tasks does it include?+
R.U.E. stands for Reading & Use of English — the largest written paper. It covers multiple-choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, key word transformation and reading comprehension, testing grammar, vocabulary and reading in one paper.
What is a CES score?+
CES is the Cambridge English Scale: a single continuous scale (roughly 80 to 230) used across all Cambridge English exams. Your exam returns one number on that scale, which maps to a grade (A, B or C) and a CEFR level. A high enough score can certify the level above the exam you sat.
How does the AI Writing feedback work?+
Your writing is assessed like a real examiner on the four official Cambridge criteria — Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation and Language — with specific, criterion-based feedback instead of vague comments, plus a realistic score.
Is there a free version?+
Yes. You can create a free account (email or Google, no credit card) and complete one free exam per module per level — with a real score and AI feedback — before paying anything.
How much does Upslang cost?+
Full access is a single one-time payment of €29, which unlocks 12 months of unlimited practice across all papers and all levels.
Do Cambridge certificates expire?+
No. Unlike IELTS or TOEFL, Cambridge B1, B2 and C1 certificates do not expire — they are valid for life, with no renewals or re-sits.
